Shields and Boris has extensive experience developing difficult options that can be used to support your special needs loved one. A special needs trust helps protect assets for a person with a disability without interfering with any benefit that person is receiving. It can be structured to provide for a special needs person for their lifetime and allowing any remaining funds distributed to other loved ones or a charity.

Alzheimer’s disease is defined as a progressive brain disorder that gradually destroys memory and the ability to learn, reason, make judgments, communicate, and carry out daily activities. As the disease progresses, those diagnosed with the disease may experience changes in behavior and personality. These changes can be exhibited as paranoia, anxiety, agitation, hallucinations, or delusions.

Early detection is critical as medical intervention may be available to slow the progression of the disease. Talk with your physician about diagnostic testing and treatment options.
